VOTER EDUCATION (iVOTE)

Hawaii Family Forum and Hawaii Catholic Conference is committed to urge the faithful to

1. Register to vote;
2. Be knowledgeable about issues and where candidates stand on those issues and
3. Motivate and get believers to go out and vote.

HFF/HCC does not endorse candidates or political parities! We are, however, able to provide information that will be used by voters to make sound decisions. This campaign is called iVOTE, and you will be hearing more about this campaign after the end of session.

Selected Dates to Remember

• April 22, 2010 (Thursday) Voter Registration Deadline (remember, you must re-register if you changed your name or moved to a new location)
• May 10 – May 20, 2010 Absentee Walk-In Voting at the Office of the City Clerk, Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King St. – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• May 15, 2010 (Saturday) Last Day to Request Absentee Mail Ballots
• May 22, 2010 LAST DAY FOR BALLOTS TO BE RECEIVED (ELECTION ENDS) -6:00 p.m.
• May 22, 2010 election results will be announced

Vote-By-Mail

The election will be conducted as a “Vote-By-Mail” election. All registered voters as of the voter registration deadline will automatically be mailed a packet containing the Vote- By-Mail ballot and return envelopes. No polling places will be open on May 22, 2010 (end of election).

Ballots will be mailed approximately 20 days prior to the election. Voted ballots must be received by the State of Hawaii Office of Elections no later than 6:00 p.m., May 22, 2010 in the return envelopes provided.

Submission of an “Absentee Ballot” application form to receive a ballot packet is not required unless the registered voter transfers into the district after the voter registration deadline or if the voter is unable to receive mail at the address listed in the general county registry. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for the Special Election is May 15, 2010.

Walk-In Early Voting

Any voter requiring the use of an accessible voting machine may do so at the Office of the City Clerk, Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King St. from Monday, May 10, 2010 to Thursday, May 20, 2010, excluding Sundays and holidays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Walk-in voting will be open on Saturdays during this period.

New Hope Oahu will be hosting a Special Election Forum featuring candidates seeking to fill the vacant US congressional seat. This event is open to all members of New Hope Oahu as well as others in the community who may be interested in knowing more about the issues and topics that are debated on a national level.
