HONOLULU-- Hawai'i Republican Party Chairman Jonah Ka'auwai reacted to media reports that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is concerned about Hawaii's special election to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Neil Abercrombie in Hawaii's 1st Congressional district.
The National Journal's Congress Daily and Roll Call both reported that the DCCC is weighing an endorsement of Democrat Ed Case over Democrat Colleen Hanabusa in Hawaii's 1st Congressional District:
"Concerned that momentum is shifting in favor of Charles Djou, the national Democrats are worried and want the powerful insiders in D.C. to pick Hawai'i's next congressional representative. The Washington establishment has gotten our nation into the mess we are in with trillion dollar budget deficits and unchecked spending. Now the Democrats want to ensure more of the same, as their party insiders seek to control Hawai'i residents by picking our next Congressional representative. The reality is Charles Djou, not Democrat party operatives in D.C. will clean up the mess created by the Congressional establishment," stated GOP Chair Jonah Ka'auwai.
