'Aloha for All' at National Womens March
Hawaii House GOP Caucus Chair Rep Beth Fukumoto at anti-Trump rally:
Rep. Della Au Belatti introduces Rep. Beth Fukumoto at the 2017 Women's March.
From Rep Beth Fukumoto, January, 2017
Thank you Della and thank you all for having me here.
Today I'd like to talk to you about my niece. She's eight years old, and she's campaigned with me since she was two. She's come with me to all sorts of events. And, last summer when I stood up at my party's convention she watched as a ballroom full of a men and women tossed insults and booed me because instead of pledging to support my party's nominee I said I thought his remarks were racist and sexist and that they had no place in the Republican Party.
Now, to that room full of people, I was a traitor, or a fake, or one of the many derogatory words I was called on social media afterward. To my niece, I had told the truth. Because little kids know right and wrong. We teach them that their supposed to be nice and kind to everyone even when they're different. So, she didn't understand why people would be so mean to her aunt who stood on stage and said Donald Trump's shouldn't say the things he says.
We had to explain to my niece later, that sometimes people are angry and they don't know how to express it so they treat other people badly. We explained that sometimes people are bullies, but that you should insist that they treat people with respect. We told her that you always stand up to bullies no matter who they are.
Then she watched a bully win the presidency of the United States.
It doesn't matter to me who you voted for. People cast their votes for a lot of different reasons. But, no matter who your choice was, the fact remains the same. A man won the White House with anger and hate, and our kids watched it happen. Now, it's our jobs to make sure they watch us fight back.
So what I'm going to ask you to do today is get involved. Testify at the Legislature, run for office, help on a campaign, but do it with kindness. Show our kids that everyone's voice matters, even when they believe the opposite thing you do. Teach them that everyone deserves respect. In the end, LOVE always wins.
Thank you.

Bizarre News: Protesters Claim They’re Not Anti-Trump
HNN: …While organizers insist the marches aren't anti-Trump, supporters of the 45th president believe otherwise.
"I know a lot of people were saying they're protesting because of what Trump might do, or could do, but I never thought that's what we did in our country," said former State Sentator Sam Slom. "I thought we waited and gave people a chance to see what they actually did."
"It's only the beginning today, but it's a significant beginning of what we're all about for the next four years," said Wayne….

Privileged people playing at being victims
CB: …Many of the protesters were privileged people playing at being victims…. Part carnival and part crowd-control nightmare…. The speeches angry, disjointed and vague….
Sarah Pistone, a college student and Green Party supporter from New York who held up a sign criticizing the Democratic National Committee, said she got a lot of dirty looks from the marchers. She said she thought a lot of them were Hillary Clinton supporters who had allowed Sen. Bernie Sanders to be driven from the presidential race and then were disappointed that their party lost.
In her hometown of Nyack, New York, she said, Clinton supporters live in “big mansions, with immigrant gardeners and housekeepers.” She said she thought many of the protesters were privileged people playing at being victims.
“It seems like it’s a vacation for them, a day trip,” she said. “They are here with a sign but at the end of the day they won’t do anything. There’s a lot of hypocrisy there.”
The majority of the crowd was white, about the same ratio as the crowd on the previous day at the inauguration. But where the Trump supporters looked working class, many of the Saturday marchers appeared more affluent, wearing expensive ski and outdoor wear.…
