SEN. HANABUSA IS CONTENT WITH THE 3RD WORST PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM
HONOLULU—Hawai'i Republican Party Chairman Jonah Ka'auwai released the following statement on the Hawai'i State Teacher’s Association’s endorsement of Senator Colleen Hanabusa in the special election for Hawai'i’s first congressional district:
“HSTA’s endorsement of Senator Colleen Hanabusa comes as no surprise. Hanabusa has been a good solider for the HSTA and other unions and has fought for higher taxes and greater union control over Hawai'i’s economy and education system. The fruit of Hanabusa’s relationship with HSTA and other public unions is summed up in having the 3rd worst public education system in the nation.
“HSTA’s endorsement of Hanabusa confirms that HSTA’s reach goes further than just Hawai'i’s shores. With this endorsement, Hanabusa, like other public union soldiers in the legislature, remains beholden to a lobbying group that protects its own interests, even at the expense of Hawai'i’s children.”
