I’m spreading the word on why I would like to elect Charles Djou as Honolulu’s next Mayor as part of the#TeamDjou Challenge. You can join me by forwarding this email to 10 of your friends and family members and by sharing on social media.
Here it goes:
-
RAIL: Mayor Caldwell once promised rail “on time and on budget,” but no one in his administration has taken responsibility as rail run billions of dollars over budget and at least five years behind schedule. As Mayor, Charles Djou will veto any further tax increases for the rail system. He believes that we need to make the rail project work with the money we have, not the unlimited blank check Caldwell has given to project developers on the backs of Honolulu’s hardworking families.
-
ETHICS: There have been serious accusations that Caldwell's administration actively interfered with ongoing investigations within the Ethics Commission, and even attempted to silence Chuck Totto in the press. While in City Council, Charles Djou successfully fought to give the Ethics Commission the power to issue civil fines for violations of the ethics code and championed stronger ethics rules that have reduced conflicts of interest in Honolulu.
-
HOMELESSNESS: Under the mayor’s watch, homelessness has spiraled out of control and people no longer feel it is safe to enjoy many of our parks and beaches. Millions have been spent on projects that have taken only a tiny handful of people off of our streets. Even more concerning is that under this administration, a smaller percentage of our homeless are opting to live in shelters, decreasing from 70% to just 56%. Charles Djou has three key steps he will take as Mayor. See them here.
-
TRUST: This is a bipartisan campaign with the goal of bringing the trust of the community back into Honolulu Hale. Currently, the campaign has been endorsed by concerned leaders from across the state, including former Democratic Party Chair, Retired Judge Walter Heen, Former Governor Ben Cayetano, City Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi, the Sierra Club, and even several labor unions concerned that the current administration is hurting their hardworking members.
Please consider joining me by voting for Charles Djou on August 13th and by joining the #TeamDjou challenge. Together, we can create a better future for Honolulu.
