The State House today approved with unanimous consent HB2311 which overrides restrictions placed on display of the US and Hawaii flags by homeowners association rules.
This marks a dramatic turnaround after Cabanilla’s committee on February 3 blocked House consideration of the bill.
A February 18 motion to force the bill out of committee and bring it to the House floor for a vote appeared to get only 14 of the 17 votes necessary—but video of the House vote shows that in fact 17 Representatives did vote to recall the bill from committee for consideration by the full House.
After protests by veterans and exposure of the false vote counting, Cabanilla was forced to change her position. On February 24 the bill passed the House Housing Committee and today was approved by the full House.
The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
Rep Cabanilla’s office manager Leon Rouse is a convicted child molester and leading gay marriage advocate.
Cabanilla’s 2008 election opponent, Tom Berg, is a key proponent of HB2311.
