Hawaii House Republicans Urge NRA to Reject Willes Lee Nomination
By News Release @ 4:35 AM :: 4923 Views :: Second Amendment

House Minority Caucus urges NRA’s Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre to scrap nomination of Wiles Lee to their Board of Directors.

News Release from Office of Rep Bob McDermott, January 6, 2015

The letter signed by all seven members of the House Minority Caucus states that the elected Republicans would be “unable to work with him” because of Mr. Lee’s “personal attacks.”

The Caucus members reiterated their support for the mission of the National Rifle Association, but warned that Mr. Lee’s ongoing campaign to disrupt and insult the Republican Party, its elected officials and officers, could severely hamper the NRA’s efforts in Hawaii.

Rep. Bob McDermott said, “Mr. Lee’s bizarre behavior has damaged his ability to work with anyone constructively in Hawaii.”

Mr. Lee lost a Republican Party vote for National Committeeman almost five years ago and has been waging war on Hawaii’s Republicans ever since. A brief review of his organization, the Hawaii Republican Assembly, and its online media gives a vivid accounting of his constant attacks. Mr. Lee also issues monthly rants via email to a proprietary list that McDermott believes he pilfered from the Hawaii Republican Party headquarters.

The level of destruction to the reputation and brand of Hawaii’s Republican Party by Mr. Lee has been so great and persistent that the party has brought legal action against him.

Representative Bob McDermott, a recipient of an “A” rating from the NRA said, “It is unfortunate that Mr. Lee has not used his considerable talents to further the conservative agenda in Hawaii. Instead he has attacked bona fide conservatives while giving the 2nd Amendment haters a pass.”

Copies of the Republican Minority Caucus letter to Mr. LaPierre have been forwarded to HIRA’s parent organization the National Republican Assembly and to the Conservative Union.
