GOV. LINGLE AND LT. GOV. AIONA JOIN REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE DAVID CHANG AT CAMPAIGN KICKOFF EVENT IN DOWNTOWN CHINATOWN
HONOLULU—David Chang, Republican candidate for House District 28, gathered with over 50 supporters at the Maunakea Marketplace in Chinatown on February 4th, 2010 to launch his campaign for State House 28. In attendance were Governor Linda Lingle, Governor Aiona, Minority Leader Lynn Finnegan, Hawai'i Republican Party Chairman Jonah Ka'auwai and other VIPs. To exemplify the diversity of his constituents and supporters, Chang invited Ted Liu, Director of Business, Economic Development and Tourism for the State of Hawai'i, and H.K. Cha, Campaign Manager for David Chang, to speak to the press in Mandarin and Korean.
“If you were to make a list of the characteristics of the perfect candidate, you would get David Chang," said Gov. Lingle, a Chang supporter and House District 28 constituent who pledged both her support and vote for Chang. "As a West Point graduate and small business owner he knows what it means to work hard and will be the voice of the people."
"I am now seeking public office to be a trusted representative and a voice for the people of Hawai'i," said Chang at yesterday's event. My goal is not to just be a politician, but to passionately and faithfully serve by making Hawai'i a better and more prosperous place for the future.”
David is a graduate of West Point, the United States Military Academy. He was selected as an East-West Center Fellow and holds a Masters of Arts in Political Science from the University of Hawaii and a Masters in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary. He is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and currently serves in the Hawai'i Army National Guard as an Intelligence Officer.
David is currently the CEO/President of WealthBridge Inc., a wealth management firm specializing in financial planning and business consulting. He is also the founder of PowerH2O, a premium bottled water company, and The Cabinet and Stone Factory, a remodeling and construction firm.
David is a member of the Financial Planning Association, the Chinatown Lion’s Club International, The Rotary Club, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters and is on the Board of Directors for the Association of Christian Conferences and Teaching Services. He is now an intern for the Minority Leader of the Hawai'i State House Legislature.
He has taken great pride in announcing his candidacy for the Hawai'i State House of Representatives District 28 – Downtown, Chinatown, Palama, Lower Makiki, and Sheridan.
