DUTCH HANOHANO JOINS AIONA CAMPAIGN TEAM

Former U.S. Marshal to manage day-to-day operations of growing gubernatorial campaign

HONOLULU – Lt. Governor Duke Aiona today announced that former U.S. Marshal Mark “Dutch” Hanohano has joined his gubernatorial campaign as campaign manager. Hanohano will manage the day-to-day operations of the campaign and work closely with Duke’s senior leadership team.

“Dutch gives our campaign an immediate boost,” said Lt. Governor Aiona. “He understands the importance of serving our community and keeping our residents safe. I’m honored to have him on the team.”

For Hanohano, joining Team Aiona was a matter of choosing the best candidate for Hawai`i.

“Duke Aiona is Hawai`i,” said Hanohano, who has served two sitting U.S. presidents. “He’s sincere and humble about his service to our state, and he has the public’s best interest at heart. Duke is Hawai`i’s best choice for Governor, and we need his leadership, integrity and good judgment during this critical time.”

Hanohano began his law enforcement career in 1985 with the Hawai`i State Sheriff’s Office, serving 18 years as a Deputy Sheriff, the last six years as a Sergeant, and was appointed in 2003 by the president to serve as U.S. Marshal for the District of Hawai`i.

He attended Saint Louis School and went on to graduate from Mid-Pacific Institute and continued his education at Hawai`i Loa College. Dutch and his wife Melanie, a public school teacher, have been married since 1992. They have three children together.
