News Release from Law Office of John Carroll, November 27, 2015

HONOLULU – The Law Offices of John S. Carroll today announced the amicable settlement of a lawsuit filed by Malia Zimmerman against State Senator Sam Slom in July 2015. The lawsuit has been dismissed. Before both parties completed their discovery, Ms. Zimmerman elected to dismiss her lawsuit.

Senator Slom is satisfied that this case has come to a successful conclusion and feels that the statement from Ms. Zimmerman acknowledging that he has always kept his commitments and promises, was necessary in light of the improper, false, and damaging allegations made initially through this lawsuit.

Since the filing of this lawsuit, Senator Slom’s public reputation has been questioned because of untruthful statements and rumors contained in the lawsuit. He has been attacked personally and professionally. Political media, and bloggers with an agenda, who published only one side of the suit never asked Senator Slom for his rebuttal.

As a result of the settlement, Senator Slom feels vindicated and trusts that this will discredit the allegations hurled at him.

He had previously indicated he will seek re-election to the Senate in 2016. He has no animosity toward the FOX News journalist, Ms. Zimmerman, and her overall work and applauds her excellent reportage in past years.

Today’s result could not have been achieved without the hard work of Senator Slom, Ms. Zimmerman, Attorney, John S. Carroll, and Attorney, Matson Kelley. In addition, Senator Slom is grateful for the support he has received from his family, friends, colleagues, and constituents. Above all, Senator Slom would like to thank his lawyer John S. Carroll, for his outstanding work in this proceeding and for his professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.
