WalletHub Study: 2015’s Best & Worst Cities for Veterans

With Nov. 11 being Veterans Day and about 422,000 veterans struggling to find work in the U.S., the personal finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2015’s Best & Worst Cities for Veterans.
In honor of the sacrifices made by our former military service members, WalletHub’s analysts compared 100 of the most populated U.S. cities across 18 key metrics to help veterans find the most livable cities to call home. The data set ranges from the percentage of military skill-related jobs to the availability of VA health facilities.

- The percentage of veterans living below the poverty line is 19 times higher in Newark, N.J., than in Garland, Texas.
- The ratio of homeless veterans to the veteran population is 28 times higher in San Francisco than in Virginia Beach, Va.
- The veteran unemployment rate is 31 times higher in Virginia Beach, Va., than in Irvine, Calif.
