With August being a peak moving month and big cities growing considerably faster than in the previous decade, the leading personal finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2015’s Best & Worst Large Cities to Live in.

We’ve taken the guesswork out of finding the right city for urban dwellers. To do so, WalletHub compared the attractiveness of the largest U.S. cities in terms of livability, the quality of their health and education systems, economic growth and tax rates. Our data set includes a total of 31 key metrics.

  • San Diego’s school system quality score is twice as high as Philadelphia’s.
  • Detroit’s violent crime rate is 13 times as high as Virginia Beach, Va.’s.
  • The percentage of adults with a BMI of 30 or higher in Memphis, Tenn., is two times higher than in San Jose, Calif.
  • The percentage of the population smoking daily Louisville, Ky., is four times higher than in San Jose, Calif.
  • The percentage of adults eating fruits or vegetables (five or more servings per day) in San Francisco is two times higher than in Tulsa, Okla.
