Native Hawaiians Recognizing Grassroot Institute
by Keli'i Akina, Ph.D., President/CEO, Grassroot Institute of Hawaii
I am delighted that Grassroot Institute's work is generating broad community action and support. Here is an e-mail blast just sent out by the leaders of a Native Hawaiian organization. They reference our legal work through Judicial Watch and former Hawaii Attorney General Michael Lilly. It is this kind of community cooperation that embodies the spirit of E Hana Kakou (Let's Work Together!).

Subject: ALERT! - IS YOUR NAME ON THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN ROLL?
Aloha `aina,
Please forward this to all Hawaiians and our supporters.
Judicial Watch and the Grassroot Institute were recently successful in obtaining internal financial documents of the Native Hawaiian roll.
The wasteful, irresponsible and highly questionable spending by the roll commissioners has now been revealed and made public.
Most troublesome is that the names of thousands of individuals were transferred, without their permission, over to Kana`iolowalu from other databases held by the state.
This is identity theft!
Judicial Watch and the Grassroot Institute is highly interested in hearing from those who never signed Kana`iolowalu yet have discovered their name on the roll.
If you or someone in your `ohana have found your name placed on the Native Hawaiian roll without your permission, and you object to it, it is vitally important to let them know right away.
You may contact their attorney Michael Lilly by email at michael@NLJLAW.COM or his secretary Katherine Velasco at Katherine@NLJLAW.COM
We strongly encourage everyone whose name was illegally placed on the Native Hawaiian roll to contact Mr Lilly today.
Mahalo.
