EXECUTIVE CHANGES AT HAWAII FAMILY ADVOCATES

News Release from HFA January 20, 2015

Hawaii Family Advocates announces the appointment of James “Duke” Aiona as interim executive director, a change that will strengthen the organization’s ability to speak for families across the state.

In accepting the position, Mr. Aiona said, “It is an honor and privilege to be offered this opportunity to serve as the Interim Executive Director of Hawaii Family Advocates. I am grateful to the outgoing president, Jim Hochberg and the members of the board for their confidence and support of my skills and capability to fulfill and achieve HFA's mission of fortifying and preserving our country's fundamental values and rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. I look forward to being a part of this mission."

Jim Hochberg, who has guided the organization since 2012, and is stepping away, said, “I believe my ability to grow Hawaii Family Advocates has been realized and that the new leadership offers great potential for growth.

“I thank the Hawaii Family Advocates board of directors for their support and guidance during the last two election cycles and I’m excited for the future under Duke Aiona’s leadership.”

Hawaii Family Advocates is the citizen action arm of Hawaii Family Forum and its mission is to ensure that the voices of families are represented in the halls of the legislature and in elections. Both organizations are associated with a nationwide network of state-based family policy councils guided by Citizen Link and Focus on the Family.

Tom Minnery, president of Citizen Link, said “We rejoice at Duke’s decision to take on this significant work, especially in this day when the foundations of family life are severely strained. We’re grateful for Jim Hochberg’s dedication to the task in these last two years.”
