LAND BOARD TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF NEW HUNTING RULES

HONOLULU – The Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) will consider approval of new state hunting rules for game mammals and game birds on Oct. 24, 2014.
The changes will consist of updating public hunting areas, bag limits, open hunting periods, safety zones, exhibits, and conditions and restrictions; clarifying definitions; clarifying rules related to hunting on private land; allowing the board to issue permits and temporarily close hunting areas; and setting a fee schedule for licenses, stamps, and tags.

Anyone wishing to provide comments/testimony on the proposed rules may do so by following these instructions:
Written testimony may be submitted in one of the following ways:
Please provide written testimony as soon as possible after Oct.17, 2014. All written testimony must be received in advance of the Oct. 24, 2014 board meeting for board consideration prior to decision-making.
Oral testimony may be presented on the day of the Land Board meeting. Participants are asked to provide a written summary of the testimony before the board to present oral testimony.
DLNR’s Division of Forestry and Wildlife held public hearings on the draft rules on Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, Lanai, and Kona and Hilo on the Big Island between Nov. 8-17, 2010.
