Inspector General Complaint Confronts Mark Takai “Violations” and MG D. Wong “Political Favoritism”

Honolulu, Hawaii – October 17, 2014 – Hawaii resident Ben White flies home from Korea to support Inspector General Complaint against Mark Takai for “violations of privacy” and “abuse of rank” which are condoned by the “Political Favoritism” of the Hawaii Adjutant General, Major General Darryll Wong.

Mark Takai is a Hawaii Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel who is running from congress. The complaint makes two allegations against Lieutenant Colonel Takai.

Lieutenant Colonel Takai violated the privacy of army soldiers and subordinates when he accessed the Army Knowledge Online (“AKO”) For Official Use Only (“FOUO”) government system to contact soldiers for money and personal gain.

In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Takai abused his rank to ask subordinates for money which is a violation of Army regulations. Asking subordinates for money regardless of their duty status is wrong and is an “abuse of rank”.

The nature of the allegations against Lieutenant Colonel Takai will warrant two administrative actions to occur according to Army Regulations. These actions include two suspensions: 1) Security Clearance 2) Favorable Personnel Actions (FLAG). Both of these actions do have a “Command Discretion” clause. If Major General Wong exercises this discretion, there is additional evidence of General Wong’s favoritism of Lieutenant Colonel Takai. If the Hawaii National Guard says these actions have been taken against Lieutenant Colonel Takai they will be able to provide redacted copies of the forms that instituted these actions. The regulations for these actions are found in AR 380-67 and 600-8-2.

A previous IG complaint filed with the Hawaii National Guard IG was “white washed” by the Hawaii Adjutant General, Major General Darryll Wong with a blatant perception of “political favoritism”. The previous complaint is now being “reviewed” by the Department of the Army IG and the “report of inquiry” conducted by the Hawaii National Guard is pending an expedited release by the DA IG. Members of the media were aware of this complaint but never reported its existence.
