We recently participated in a truly God given and God driven opportunity to be part of an awesome international transformation conference led by visionary church leaders here in Hawaii, from our nation and over fifty countries. It was an inspiration to hear how God will provide a revival and transformation for the body of Christ around the world, in our nation and that it all starts here in Hawaii! Praise the Lord!

That is why we approach the upcoming legislative session with a sense of hope and promise for the future.

Update on HB 444

HB 444 remains alive and poised for passage on the floor of the Senate after it passed on second reading following a surprising floor amendment. If passed by the Senate on third reading after the opening of the 2010 Legislative Session, it would then go back to the House for the House to agree or disagree to the amendments made by the Senate, leading to these probable scenarios:

  • 1) If there is agreement to the amendments then the full House will take a vote to pass the measure which will then be placed before the Governor for a Veto, or passage, either by signing or not signing the Bill;
  • 2) If there is disagreement by the House to the amendments made by the Senate then the leaders of the House and Senate will appoint conference committee members to work on the disagreements. If there is an agreement reached by the conference committee by the end of session, the bill then goes to the Governor’s desk for her action to veto or sign in into law. If there is no agreement by the conference committee by the end of session, the bill dies.

We need to be proactive:

Contact House and Senate members, especially from your voting district and ask them their position on HB 444. Please inform them if you are a registered voter of his or her district. Make a respectful request for the legislator to oppose passage of the measure. Remember that regardless of whether they agree with our position or not, we are to demonstrate the love of Christ.
