Message to Supporters from Djou Campaign

Because of your support for our congressional campaign, we are happy to share with you our third television commercial, which will premier tonight in prime time on "20/20".

The commercial addresses the $17.5 trillion national debt plaguing our nation.  In individual terms, this means that each and every one of us – including our children and grandchildren – owe nearly $60,000 in debt.   We are on the same treacherous path as many European nations, who failed to control their debt and spending, and today, are living with austerity measures and other consequences of their irresponsible fiscal policies.

We must not continue in this direction and expect our children and grandchildren to bear the brunt of the fallout from our failure to govern responsibly.  We must not be the first generation in American history to leave the next worse off.

Charles has a plan to turn our financial situation around.  If fortunate enough to earn the support of the people of Hawaii, Charles has stated repeatedly that his very first act as your representative will be to co-sponsor a balanced budget amendment.

Every family in Hawaii, every business, our city and state governments all have to balance their budgets – so too should the federal government.

Our opponent, however, has no plan to address the budget deficit.  As we have seen at the last candidate forum, his goal is not to better our country with solutions, but instead to spread fear and tear down those who have the courage to offer solutions.

Your support is critical.  In the coming days, you will see our opponent become increasingly negative trying to instill fear in the electorate with a mindset mired in partisanship and fingerpointing.  Charles is focused on the future.  Please help Charles communicate our plan to bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington by donating $25, $50 or whatever amount you can afford.

You can watch our new commercial here.

We need to be able to discuss the important issues facing our country today.  And, it's only through your generosity that we can do it.

Team Djou

P.S. With your help, we can win this election!  Please share this commercial by email, Facebook or Twitter and help us build on our growing momentum!
