DJOU ON SHINSEKI RESIGNATION

News Release from Djou Campaign May 30, 2014

Congressional candidate Charles Djou, an Afghan war veteran and former member of the House Armed Services Committee, made the following statement regarding the resignation of the Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.

"Secretary Shinseki served our country honorably in the Army and today he made the right decision to step down as head of the VA," stated Djou.  "Sec. Shinseki's resignation, however, does not fix the underlying failures at the VA. We still need to reform this agency and should start by giving veterans the option to use their benefits at private health care facilities. Without reform, our service members will not get the care they deserve, and the deficiencies in the VA system will not be remedied over the long term."

Djou is a former member of Congress running to represent the seat he previously held in Hawaii's 1st Congressional District. Djou is a major in the Army Reserve, an Afghanistan War combat veteran, and VA beneficiary.
