HAWAII REPUBLICANS TO GET “BACK TO BASICS” AT UPCOMING ANNUAL STATE CONVENTION
News Release from Hawaii Republican Party
HONOLULU – (May 12, 2014) – Leading up to the November election, hundreds of Hawaii Republicans from around the state will gather on Saturday, May 17 to vote on the Party’s platform, listen to Legislative updates from incumbents, and rally with candidates. The “Back to Basics” themed convention, held at the Ko’olau Ballrooms and Conference Center in Kaneohe, is the Hawaii Republican Party’s first major event since former Congresswoman Pat Saiki assumed the Chairmanship in March.
“Party leaders and I have wasted no time in refocusing our membership on our organization’s main goal – electing Republicans to office. The only way we can accomplish this goal is to energize our base, register more Republicans, and turn them out on Election Day,” said Chairman Saiki. “With a strong slate of candidates running on issues that resonate with working families, I’m confident 2014 will be a strong year for our Party.”
Delegates to the convention, who were selected at the Party’s district caucuses in January and February, will vote on the Party’s platform and resolutions, which are reviewed, amended, and affirmed every two years. Candidates will participate in a parade through the convention hall and meet with attendees at campaign information booths.
