Message to Hawaii Republican Party members
It is with great sadness that I share the news that Janice Pechauer passed away last week after a courageous battle with cancer.
Janice most recently served as a member of our Executive Committee, as the Vice Chair of Candidate Recruitment and Training, but has been a Republican leader for many years in various capacities. She led the grassroots effort for traditional marriage which resulted in the 1998 Constitutional Amendment. She helped elect Representatives Lynn Finnegan, Bob McDermott, and Aaron Johanson and would always proudly remind us that she had kept her district Republican for nearly 20 years!
In between chemotherapy and many doctor appointments, Janice still managed to update her HRP Candidate Handbook, which was distributed at the Candidate Training sessions she conducted in March. Despite her illness, Janice remained committed as ever to supporting, educating, and encouraging our Republican candidates. She was truly an inspiration to us all. She will truly be missed.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday, May 10th at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Ko`olau.
In lieu of flowers, the Pechauer family has requested that donations be made to the Hawaii Republican Party to support the many candidates Janice recruited and trained this year. Please click here to donate online or mail checks to 725 Kapiolani Blvd #C-105, Honolulu, HI 96813 and note that the donation is in memory of Janice.
If you would like to send a card to the family, please contact me directly for the mailing address.
Mahalo,
Kayla Berube
