No New Taxes! Maui County Budget Hearing April 24
By News Release @ 3:58 PM :: 7916 Views :: Maui County, Taxes, TEA Party
  • County Budget Hearing
  • April 24th 6pm
  • County Council Chamber, Wailuku

Aloha Fellow Patriots!

Since the beginning of April, the County has been holding budget hearings on the Mayor's proposed FY 2015 budget of $622.6 million (County funds portion). This budget is supported by revenue increases generated through property taxes and user fees, etc. It represents a 19% increase over the County's 2011 adopted budget, which is nearly twice the 10% increase in the Consumer Price Index for Hawaii (Honolulu) over the last 4 years.

What is the justification for the County expanding its spending at twice the rate of inflation; why isn't it scaling back instead in the way that private enterprise has had to do?

If there were ever an appropriate opportunity to act out TEA Party Maui's acronym, "Taxed Enough Already", would there be a better time than now?

Please go to the final hearing scheduled for 6:00pm,Thursday, April 24th at the  County Council Chamber in Wailuku (click for map) and make yourself heard by testifying against this incessant expansion of County Government.

Even if you have already gone to one of the previous hearings, which many of you have, go one more time, testify and cheer your fellow conservatives on!

Mahalo for your active engagement and we'll see you all there.
