CITY SEEKS PUBLIC’S INPUT ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING
News Release from City and County of Honolulu April 17, 2014
The Department of Planning and Permitting’s Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Program and the Mayor’s Office of Housing are seeking the public’s input in developing an Affordable Housing Strategy for Oahu.
The two city agencies are conducting an online survey that asks residents to share their views on local housing needs. The survey is in response to the City Council’s desire to better address the island’s diverse housing needs, and the survey is one way that Oahu residents can help document their concerns, as well as solutions, relating to affordable housing.
The Affordable Housing Strategy will prioritize city resources in the construction and maintenance of affordable housing. The plan also will be used to revise land use regulations, financial policies, and affordable housing programs. The city’s partners in this effort include the state, housing advocates, and developers.
