Hawai‘i Health Connector Partners with Planned Parenthood of Hawai‘i in Countdown to Affordable Care Act Enrollment Deadline

News Release from Hawaii Health Connector March 17, 2014

HONOLULU, HI – The Hawai‘i Health Connector and Planned Parenthood of Hawai‘i today announced a joint effort to provide individuals with insurance enrollment assistance before the Affordable Care Act’s March 31, 2014 deadline. Connector Kōkua will be present at all Planned Parenthood of Hawaii Health Centers across the state on select days and times in a stepped up effort to ensure that all Hawaii people, especially those in areas with the greatest health care need, have the information and resources they need to enroll in new, more affordable health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act.

“The Affordable Care Act is one of the greatest advancements for women’s health in a generation. As the leading women’s health care provider and advocate in Hawai‘i, Planned Parenthood of Hawai‘i fought hard for the law’s passage, and now we are working to make sure our patients and the communities we serve know about their new health care options,” said Andrea Anderson, President & CEO. “For millions of women, their trusted provider is Planned Parenthood. And for millions more, Planned Parenthood will be the trusted voice that helps guide them to get covered and get access to the full range of health care services they and their families deserve.”

“In our final countdown to the end of the open enrollment period on March 31, community outreach remains a priority,” said Tom Matsuda, the Connector’s interim executive director. “We really want to make sure that those seeking coverage complete and submit an application before the end of the month so that they can be added to the ranks of the those Hawaii people that the Connector has helped to insure.”
