According to protesters organized by 9-11 truther Jim Abertini's mis-named "Malu-Aina Peace center", US Marines training at Pohakuloa on the Big Island are unwanted "Dirty Bumbs."
About ten anti-American-war activists from Hilo gathered today along the Saddle Highway near training exercises in progress--forcing commanders to order a cease to training activities while the protesters were in the area. Personnel stationed on Oahu are training at Pohakuloa as they prepare for deployment.
Countering the war activists were Americans gathered at Pohakuloa's main gate. They were organized by the Hawaii Gathering of Eagles--a group which has sent over 3000 lbs of Kona coffee donated by Big Island farmers to US personnel deployed overseas. When Gathering of Eagles counter-protesters moved to the junction of the old and new Saddle Highways to face off with Malu Aina, a cheer rose up from dozens of Marines whose training had been disrupted. Moments later, the Malu Aina activists left the scene and returned to Mauna Kea State park and the Marines were able to continue training.
American Marines training to fight al-Qaeda and Taliban overseas may be "Dirty Bumbs" to Malu-Aina, but there are some "fighters" Albertini's protesters look up to with respect. On November 5, 2007 Albertini joined self-described "attorney" Lanny Sinkin to write a column in "Surfer's Path" magazine urging Kauai anti-Superferry protesters to make "proper arrangements" and "be prepared for ... possible physical injury or death."
Apparently Albertini's protesters are taking a page from the playbook of anti-Superferry protesters who a carried sign reading "Stupid Ferry, Stupid Riders."
When four American contractors--including Paauilo, Hawaii army veteran Wesley Batalona--were murdered by an al-Qaeda led mob at Fallujah, Iraq in March, 2004, Albertini issued a leaflet condemning the four and accusing them of "war crimes."
The Hawaii Department of Education's official "History of Hawaii" textbook--used in DoE history classes statewide-- devotes six of its pages to a 1980s creampuff interview with Albertini in which he outlines his efforts on behalf of a nuclear freeze.
Albertini, Hawaii Democrats' Precinct 3-9 Chair, is a convicted felon and federal ex-convict once tagged as a "psychopath" by Judge Samuel Wilder King.
