The Nobel Committee claims Obama got the prize, "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." The world is laughing at the liberals' witless self-satire. Here is some reaction:
PAPER: This makes mockery of peace prize...
White House Aide: 'It's Not April 1st, Is It?'...
MIXED REVIEWS; 'EMBARRASSING JOKE'...
Reuters quotes numerous head-choppers and bus-bombers throughout the Islamic world who momentarily look up from their work-benches to speak to reporters (safely, by phone) and complain bitterly about Obama's prize. So much for bringing terrorists to the table, eh Neil Abercrombie?
Of course the purpose in interviewing the terrorists, is to provide cover for Obama against critics who cite the obvious emptiness and vacuity of the award. But conservatives were hardly alone. In addition to the media shock, here's a response from a New York liberal:
"It would be wonderful if I could think why he won," said Claire Sprague, 82, a retired English professor as she walked her dog in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. "They wanted to give him an honor I guess, but I can't think what for."
And who should have gotten the prize?
....Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, who had been tipped as a favorite for the prize, told Reuters that Obama was a deserving candidate and an "extraordinary example."
He is being polite. When the Nobel committee gave the prize to Obama, in spite of the fact that he has no accomplishment other than getting elected, it robbed Zimbabwean labor leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
Tsvangirai became the Zim PM earlier this year after enduring over a decade of frame-up charges, beatings, assassination attempts, fraudulent elections--and the murder of hundreds of pro-democracy activists by the genocidal socialist Mugabe regime.
The Nobel committee bypassed an opportunity to shine an international spotlight on the struggle of the Zimbabwean people against dictatorship and the socialist demolition of what was once one of the most prosperous countries in Africa.
Chinese dissidents let down...
The Zimbabweans were not the only ones robbed. In order to award a President who is too cowardly to meet with the Dalai Lama, the Nobel Committee bypassed several Chinese dissidents.
Obama pilloried over ducking Dalai Lama to appease China
Here is some more world reaction:
Castro calls Obama's Nobel Prize 'positive measure'...
Carter: 'Bold statement'...
Lech Walesa: 'Too early. He has no contribution so far'...
Michael Moore: 'Congratulations President Obama -- Now Please Earn It!'
Sen. Inhofe: Obama received Nobel Peace Prize for 'de-emphasizing defense'...
Inhofe is right. There is a logic to the award. Several recent "peace" prize recipients are playing key roles in facilitating the acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran. Now Obama is among them.
List of recent Nobel Peace prize recipients:
- 2007 Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. -- Peddles "global warming" scam designed to impoverish planet. Tried, failed to steal 2000 US presidential election.
- 2005 Mohmed ElBaradei – soft on Pakistani and Iranian proliferation, calls Israel "number one threat", managed to come up with a failed October surprise vs Bush in 2004.
- 2004 Wangari Maathai --thinks AIDS is an American conspiracy.
- 2003 Shirin Ebadi – defends Iran’s ‘right’ to have nukes.
- 2002 Jimmy Carter —Anti-Semite, soft on Iran, blames Jooos for his 1980 election defeat.
- 2001 United Nations, Kofi Annan --Bought and paid for by Saddam Hussein in Oil for Food scam.
- 2000 Kim Dae-jung – sent $$$ to N Korea under sunshine policy, got nothing in return.
- 1994 Yasser Arafat -- terror bomber.
- 1992 Rigoberta Menchú -- made up parts of her bio in order to suit propaganda needs of communist guerilla movement.
- 1990 Mikhail Gorbachev -- tried but failed to save the USSR.

WHAT’S NEXT? THE OSCAR?
President Obama’s star power continues to earn him praise without merit. What significant shift has taken place on the international front since he has taken office?
North Korea and Iran continue to demonstrate their unwillingness to disclose nuclear capabilities or negotiate real disarmament. American troops are still risking their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq to protect the country from those who wish to do us harm.
American leaders such as President Ronald Reagan, who ushered America to the end of the Cold War, were not honored for their actual achievements, while President Obama, nominated after only two weeks in office, was recognized for his rhetoric by a committee of star-struck Norwegians.
Following on the heels of a similar Hollywood-fueled Nobel win by Al Gore, one can only hope that the Prize will someday regain its credibility.

RNC:
I'm sure you've heard the news -- Barack Obama has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. It's a stunning, if not truly surprising, indication of just how meaningless a once honorable and respected award has become.
What has President Obama actually accomplished? It is unfortunate that the president's star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights.
Even the normally fawning media have expressed shock at the clearly political and unmerited award. But the Democrats clearly see it differently, with DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse stating "the Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists -- the Taliban and Hamas this morning -- in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize."
Like most Americans, the DNC can't think of one achievement that the president has accomplished, so they resort to their predictable response and standard playbook of demonizing anyone who disagrees with them.
First they call Americans concerned over health care "rabid extremists" and "angry mobs." Now, when challenged to answer the question of what the president has accomplished, Democrats are lashing out calling Republicans terrorists. That type of political rhetoric is shameful.

Even writers on the ultra-liberal DailyKos are embarrassed by Woodhouse's shamelessness:
By embracing Mr. Obama's Nobel Prize, I feel like we're saying that it's now time to make a definitive statement on the success/failure of his presidency. And I, for one, would prefer some more time before throwing the parade/funeral.
So imagine my shock when I get to Dailykos' front page and find a link to Mr. Woodhouse's quote...a quote that assumes I'm both a Republican and a terrorist-ally (I'm a Left-leaning Independent with no criminal record).
Why do I assume this quote has anything to do with me? Because of the part where it reads, "in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize". I myself am making such a criticism (though I'm not so much criticizing Mr. Obama as the people who gave him the Nobel Prize). So by this logic, I'm included with the Republicans, the Taliban, and Hamas.
And I'm not alone in interpreting the statement in this manner. Here's Glenn Greenwald...."Apparently, according to the DNC, if you criticize this Prize, then you're an unpatriotic America-hater -- just like the Terrorists, because they're also criticizing the award."

Obama did promise to bring the whole world together, and today for just a moment, the whole world is united in laughter at Obama and the Nobel Committee.
