Blue Planet's Top 10 for 2013

From Blue Planet Foundation December 22, 2013

10. Merry and bright: We've replaced more than 300,000 incandescents with more efficient light bulbs.

9. The Clinton Global Initiative recognized WEfficiency as a change-making commitment. And of course: Money shower!

8. Hundreds of Molokai households are saving hundreds of dollars a year with new ENERGY STAR refrigerators!

7. Innovative policy: Green energy market securitization (GEMS) will provide low-cost capital for renewable energy.

6. Monitoring energy use helps families manage energy costs.

5. We're working with HECO on “Island Pulse” displays that show how much energy we’re using right now—and where it comes from.

4. Plans for Honolulu Bike Share are in the works.

3. We published Hawai‘i’s first annual Energy Report Card.

2. Hawai‘i has more than 2,000 EVs on the road!

1. On-bill financing will soon be a reality!

Phew, what a year! The upcoming year promises even more clean energy progress with big steps toward grid modernization, smart appliances that can make your home a smart home, and rapid advances in energy storage solutions. In the policy arena, we’ll be advocating for community solar—off-site PV projects that can benefit residents who are unable to put solar on their own rooftops.

We all believe in the power and possibility of a future beyond fossil fuels....
