HIRA, ACU to Rank Hawaii Legislators
By Tito Montes @ 7:13 PM :: 5712 Views :: Politicians, Republican Party

Aloha Conservatives:            December 11, 2013

Our friends at the American Conservative Union (ACU), the nation's leading and most prestigious conservative organization, held their annual CPAC conference where many leading conservatives and Republicans spoke about the big issues and the future of conservatism.  CPAC 2013 chief organizer and ACU chairman Alberto Cardenas will be the keynote speaker at HIRA's upcoming fundraiser for Hawaii conservative solutions and candidates on February 6, 2014:  The Inaugural Ronald Reagan Freedom and Liberty Dinner.

Al Cardenas is the one political leader who can bring conservatives together like no one else, and by headlining HIRA's Reagan Dinner, this also marks the first time ACU/CPAC's leader will have officially visited our islands . . . exclusively to help HIRA's conservative mission.

We would like to share with you some highlighted speeches (scroll down for videos) by top names at this year’s amazing CPAC.  Unsurprisingly, Chairman Cardenas was able to gather all of America’s top conservatives in one room:  Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee, Gov. Rick Perry, Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Rick Santorum, Gov. Sarah Palin, Gov. Mitt Romney, Rep. Paul Ryan, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Rep. Michelle Bachmann, Speaker Newt Gingrich, Wayne LaPierre, Grover Norquist, Rusty Humphries, Rep. Darrell Issa, Lt. Col. Oliver North, Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Jim DeMint, Tucker Carlson and more.

In addition to organizing CPAC, the American Conservative Union (which turns 50 next year) is best known for its annual ratings. These ratings rank the 'conservatism' of each member of Congress based on his/her votes on key issues.  Since the ACU defines what it means to be a 'card-carrying conservative', some representatives and senators look better than others when scored objectively (i.e. Hawaii's four members of Congress are pretty terrible by ACU standards).

What's really exciting for us in Hawaii is that the ACU is currently expanding its system of ratings to state legislatures nationwide, as part of its five-year plan to bring ratings to all 50 states -- scoring every legislature in every state, every session.  Hawaii Republican Assembly (HIRA) plans to work closely with the ACU in developing the criteria for ranking every member of the Hawaii State Legislature based on each member's voting record on key fiscal and social issues.  Stay tuned for more information down the road.

So please join your fellow Republicans and conservatives at HIRA's inaugural Ronald Reagan Freedom and Liberty Dinner on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Pearl Country Club.

Affordably priced at just $75.00, event tickets are on sale NOW.

Our keynote speaker Alberto Cardenas will be coming from Washington, D.C. for our February 6th gala specifically to help conservative Republicans in Hawaii.  We sincerely hope that you will be able to make time to join us for a very special night.

Tickets can be purchased online HERE.  Or you can mail a check payable to HIRA to our address:  Hawaii Republican Assembly, P.O. Box 2567, Ewa Beach, HI 96706. Tickets are just $75 each (includes dinner and parking).  Personal, corporate and PAC contributions are most welcome.  Event sponsorships ($5,000, $3,000, and $1,000) as well as tables are also available.  Please contact me directly at president@hawaiirepublicanassembly.com for sponsorship and table information.

Enjoy the videos from CPAC 2013 below. We hope to see you on this special evening with former Reagan administration official and ACU Chairman Al Cardenas to celebrate the late, great Ronald Reagan and to unite conservatives at this crucial time in Hawaii's history. Mahalo for your kokua!

Sincerely,

President - Hawaii Republican Assembly
