News Release from www.snap-pac.com
Student Network for Action in Progress (SNAP), which is a student-led, student-serving organization, expects members from all sectors of the community to rally in protest of the $250 million loss of state funds in 5 years which has resulted in tuition increases that are going less to academics and price the local population out of higher education.
To demonstrate that this issue puts the campus community and State of Hawai`i at a collective disadvantage, SNAP is asking the public to join students, faculty, and civic groups in uniting for this momentous and meaningful event that will empower student voice.
The event begins with a March on the Capitol on Friday, November 22, 2013, at 1 pm and participants will walk from Bachman Hall to the Hawaii State Capitol Building.
The event is coordinated by the Student Network for Action in Progress, LaborFest Hawai`i, Associated Students of the University of Hawai`i (ASUH), Graduate Student Organization (GSO), Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Honor Society, and Young Democrats at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa.
Their goal is to show legislators and the public that divesting higher education hurts everyone in the community and to encourage action and collaboration at every level to address University needs.
