The Hawaii Health Connector is refusing to tell reporters how many Hawaii residents have used the website and call center to purchase insurance via the Health Exchange.
On Friday November 1, Health Connector personnel claimed they were unable to tell Star-Advertiser reporters how many people had purchased insurance via the Health Exchange. Separately, the State Department of Human Services told reporters it has enrolled over 6,000 Medicaid clients since October 1.
Today PBN reports its reporters “asked the Hawaii Health Connector … for updated enrollment or application submissions, and was pointed to its updates online. However, the only information available online says that as of Oct. 26, there were 66,569 unique visitors to the website and more than 10,000 calls received by the customer support center.”
That update is posted verbatim below. It says nothing about the key question everybody is asking: How many are enrolled?
The last update given to reporters was October 18 when the Hawaii Health Connector reported only 440 applications had been completed online. Off-line applicants brought the total to 1,795. It is not clear how many of these were Medicaid applicants and how many are purchasing private insurance via the Health Connector.
