International Women's Leadership Conference Set to Inspire

Bringing together women leaders from nations around the world for the sixth year in a row, Governor Lingle's International Women's Leadership Conference is a chance for Hawai`i's women to rejuvenate themselves and come away inspired.   Eight keynote speakers from eight nations around the world will share their incredible stories of success and inspire attendees.

Speakers include:

Cathrine Ann, president of the Canada-based Consumer Connection Inc., a multi-million dollar business that specializes in customer service evaluations and analysis. A difficult upbringing and a series of bad decisions led her through many dark places before she was finally able to arrive at success. Ann has earned multiple awards for her entrepreneurial spirit and she now lives in a comfortable home a world away from the streets where she once slept.

Amanda Ellis, lead specialist of gender and development for the World Bank Group. Ellis spearheads a global research program to document the ease of doing business for women in 180 countries. She also manages the World Bank's Global Private Sector Leaders CEO Forum to promote women's economic empowerment.

Amanda Ellis will inspire attendees to the conference.

Mindy Gibbins-Klein calls herself "The Book Midwife." Through her website of the same name, she has helped more than 3,000 achieve their goals and guided budding authors through the process of creating and marketing their books. Gibbins-Klein is a native of England.

Heidi Kraft, a former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, Kraft spent nine years as a U.S. Navy psychologist. She was deployed to Iraq when her twin daughter and son were just over a year old, where she spent more than seven months caring for wounded service members at a remote air base in western Iraq.

Loren Legarda, a senator of the 14th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines. Senator Legarda is the first woman to occupy the post of majority leader.

Tzipora Malka "Tzipi" Livni, opposition leader and head of Israel's Kadima party. Trained as a lawyer in commercial, constitutional and real estate law, Livni practiced law in a private firm for 10 years before entering government.

Beatrice Munah Sieh-Browne, the first woman to head the Liberian National Police and the first woman to head a national police, intelligence, security or military agency on the African continent. She was appointed to the position in March 2006 by Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

Jing Ulrich, managing director and chairman of J.P. Morgan’s China Equities business. Ulrich is responsible for the expansion of J.P.
