Storm Cleanup: 26,000 Remain Without Power

SA: … Communities across Hawaii began shifting into recovery Sunday after days of intense rain, flash flooding and damaging winds from a powerful Kona-low storm, but more than 26,000 residents remained without power and are being urged to prepare for continued outages. The storm battered multiple islands, causing widespread evacuations, rescues and significant damage to roads, utilities and other infrastructure.

Power outages caused by the storm could last for days as crews work to repair widespread damage across the islands, according to Hawaiian Electric. As of 9 p.m. Sunday, HECO said about 7,000 customers on Oahu, 4,600 on Maui and 14,500 on Hawaii island remained without electricity as crews continued repairing damaged transmission lines, downed poles and other equipment. At the same time, Kauai Island Utility Cooperative reported 18 active outages across Kauai.

Even as crews worked to restore power and clear storm damage, state health officials said emergency medical services continued operating statewide throughout the storm and no storm-related fatalities have been reported….

Swimming in Money, Hawaii County Council Randomly Buys Criminals a House for $809K

SA: …The Hawaii County Council will likely look for another use for a home near Hilo, purchased with $809,000 in federal funds, that the county had proposed leasing to a nonprofit to operate as transitional housing. (REALLY OBVIOUS QUESTIONS:  Whose house was it?  How much over the assessed value is $809K?)

Among those opposed: Luana Kawelu, president of the Merrie Monarch Festival, who objected that residents weren’t being informed how many people would live there, or what types of offenses they’d committed….

Global Warming Hysteria Making Kids Hallucinate

YCC: … At a young age, Charlotte Madin of Oahu, Hawaii, saw the impacts of climate change firsthand, including wildfires that rained ash from the sky, and destruction to the beautiful coral reefs near her home.

Madin: “Seeing that happen in real time in front of me was really scary for me.” ….

(CLUE: Anybody who ascribes any weather event to climate change is a pure fraud.)
