Honolulu Lawsuit on the Cutting Edge of Climate Hysteria

Growing Feud Between Public Utilities Commission and Solar Industry
IM: … The Honolulu Star Advertiser ran two recent island voice columns involving a fight between the Hawai`i solar industry and the Hawai`i Public Utilities Commission.
The first story by Isaac H. Moriwake, the managing attorney of the MidPacific office of Earthjustice, was posted on July 20, 2025.
LINK: Column: 10 years into green-energy law, move Hawaii forward | Honolulu Star-Advertiser -- “The PUC has stalled or killed programs to give customers, including renters and lower-income households, options to save on their bills through rooftop solar, community solar and smart, time-based rates.”
While Earthjustice represents public interest non-profits in many legal proceedings, at the Public Utilities Commission, Earthjustice represents only the private interests of solar trade groups.
(CLUE: EJ’s so-called ‘public intertest’ work is designed to enhance the position of intermittent energy, such as solar, over baseload energy, such as LNG, geothermal, etc.)
The solar trade groups rarely mention climate change and community impacts, instead they seek to maximize the profits of the solar industry. (WORD!)
The second island voice column is by the three Commissioners on the Hawai`i Public Utilities Commission: Chair Leo Asuncion, Naomi Kuwaye and Colin Yost, was posted on July 29, 2025…
LINK: Column: PUC a reliable clean energy partner | Honolulu Star-Advertiser “Unfortunately, the recent Island Voices column, ‘10 years into green energy law, move Hawaii forward,’ overlooked critical facts and mischaracterized the commission’s unyielding commitment to Hawaii’s clean energy future.”

Manhattan NFL shooter identified as Shane Tamura, has Hawaii connection
UKDM: … Tamura grew up in Hawaii, where he attended high school and was immersed in a life dominated by sports.
He was a promising football player in junior varsity, obsessed with the game and once on a path that suggested a future defined by discipline and teamwork.
In a video posted online, Tamura can be heard giving a post-game interview in which he spoke of his victory with the Granada Hills football team based in Southern California….
ESPN: Shooter was targeting NFL headquarters, NYC mayor says - ESPN -- A three-page note found in Tamura's wallet suggested he had a grievance against the NFL over a claim that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy. The degenerative brain disease has been linked to concussions and other repeated head trauma common in contact sports such as football, but it can be diagnosed only after someone has died. In the note, Tamura repeatedly said he was sorry and asked that his brain be studied for CTE, according to the police department. The note also referenced former NFL player Terry Long, who was diagnosed with CTE, and the manner in which Long killed himself in 2005. The note accused the NFL of concealing the dangers to players' brains for profit.
