New import restrictions:
• Effective immediately, there is a temporary ban on all imports of hatching eggs and live poultry from Hawaii.

On Tuesday, Department of Agriculture got a report of at least 10 dead birds, a zebra dove, ducks, and goose at a Central Oahu property in an area served by the Wahiawa Wastewater Treatment Plant. Agriculture officials issued a quarantine order which requires all birds on property to be destroyed and the site cleaned and disinfected….

HNN: … The controversy over a transgender woman playing on the San Jose State University women’s volleyball team is headed to court.
A lawsuit was filed this week against the Mountain West Conference, the Cal State University system, the head coach and two administrators.
The plaintiffs include Punahou alum and Nevada Wolfpack senior captain Sia Lii-lii, an SJSU Volleyball captain, and nine other athletes from other schools.
They claim their Title-9 rights are violated and want the player to be declared ineligible for the upcoming conference tournament….

Bill 59: Honolulu lawmakers mull ban on sale of plastic bottles on city properties
SA: … The Honolulu City Council is considering a ban on single-use plastic bottles on city properties, phased in over a three-year period with a few exemptions.
Bill 59, as drafted, states no single-use plastic bottles one liter in size or less may be “purchased, sold, or offered for sale for use at any city facility, city-authorized concession, city-sponsored or city-permitted event, or city program.”
“The Council, by resolution, may grant an exemption on an annual and renewable term of one year or less for specifically identified situations where the Council finds that there are no reasonable alternatives to the use of a single-use plastic bottle,” Bill 59 states.
