HB 106: Mayors to be Judge, Jury, Executioner?
Aloha Senators and Representatives, Feb 2, 2024
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi's Legislative Package is back for this unconstitutional cruel and unusual punishment on private property owners.
ALL Counties could levy civil fines on your home and sell your property WITHOUT going through court.
What could go wrong with this unconstitutional power grab?
Last year, there were 8 similar bills relating to this heavy-handed power of sale on private properties.
The government already has Eminent Domain powers to seize private property for Public Purpose.
To want additional powers to seize private properties due to civil fines in overreaching and violating private property rights and civil rights. This is downright spooky.
You all have constituents who will become sitting ducks unless all your constituents live in strict AOAO homes. This bill is open-ended - Counties can impose fines on ez corner tents on driveways to enclosed garage for living space to fences and so on. Already there is a culture war going on between new transplants turned "tidy police" who complain because locals are "sloppy".

Can the public trust DPP?
Please kill HB 106. There are sufficient existing laws for the counties. Who wants the County Mayors to become the Police, Prosecutor, Jury, Judge, and Executioner?
