Finally: List revealed of firms benefiting from Hawaii's Act 221

"An air of mystery surrounds several of the 83 companies on the Department of Taxation's list," said Bruce Bird, a professor of accounting at the University of West Georgia's business college. Bird co-authored a 2006 report on the tax credits. "I can find more information on the Web on witness relocation programs in Hawaii than I can find on a few of these companies."

Act 221 companies subsidized by $747M of Hawaii tax dollars include: "Getting that Girl", "Ninjai Gang", "TeamPraxis" and 80 others....

Ka'u Red Hatters work hard for hospital

For the last four years, women throughout Ka'u have worked to raise money for heart monitors, respirators, a juvenile crash cart and a portable X-ray machine for the hospital.

OHA rent scheme: Mauna Kea plan debuts

A large portion of the document is devoted to emphasizing the prominent place Mauna Kea has in Hawaiian culture.  "For some Hawaiians, Mauna Kea is so revered that there is no desire to ascend it, no desire to trespass on what is considered sacred space," the plan says.

(Then how do the report authors explain the quarry up there?  Obvoiusly they are imposing a western concept of 'sacredness'--meaning do not touch--on a very different Hawaiian concept which included quarrying and hunting within 'sacredness'?  Why?  Because OHA wants $50M in annual rent to buy off the 'sacredness'.  So OHA has degraded Hawaiian culture from sacred mining to sacred graft.)
