Your DoE at work: Federal investigators stepped in after the repeated taunting of DISABLED Waianae High student
The 17-year-old suffers from spastic dysplasia, which affects her ability to walk; and she has a learning disability, her father said.
Robert Hogan, of Waianae, said his daughter was subjected to racial and sexual harassment for months beginning in November and that Waianae High teachers and administrators did nothing despite repeated requests to intervene. Hogan also contacted the DOE's complaint line, but never got a response.
He then called the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, which launched a formal investigation.
Hogan said the bullying got so bad that his daughter suffered nightmares, would vomit in the morning because of anxiety about going to school and asked to be withdrawn and seek a GED.
(Isn’t the DoE wonderful. We must elect Neil Abercrombie in order to protect this majestic institution from the Evil Audit and to protect the glorious Board of Education which oversees this magnificence.)

Election to decide whether Hawaii will have two-party system
Hawaii voters will decide in November whether they want to preserve some balance politically or whether they are comfortable with majority Democrats in control.
If Abercrombie and Hanabusa prevail, Democrats will control Washington Place and likely all four spots in the state's congressional delegation. U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, is heavily favored to win a ninth term against Republican Cam Cavasso, and U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, has the edge against Republican John Willoughby in the rural Oahu and neighbor island 2nd Congressional District.
Democrats are also expected to hold their overwhelming majorities in the state House and Senate.

Inouye endorses Monty Richards as Honokaa mafia comes together for Abercrombie
As Inouye led up to his introduction of Abercrombie, he recounted his efforts to preserve the Big Island's agriculture industry after the disastrous closing of the Hamakua Sugar Co. mill. He said that his most valuable partner in working to bring new agricultural industries to Hawaii was a Republican, Monty Richards….
WHT: Akaka praised the Hamakua region and the group as the "real people."
Also appearing at the event were Hawaii Mayor Billy Kenoi, U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono, state Sen. Dwight Takamine, state Rep. Mark Nakashima, state Rep. Cindy Evans, and U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka. Does that crowd of “the real people” sound familiar?

Democrat Borreca wonders why Abercrombie isn’t attacking Lingle more
The question unanswered in this campaign is when will Republican Gov. Linda Lingle's eight-year record become part of the duel between Democrat Neil Abercrombie and GOP Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona….
In March, Lingle had a 45 percent approval mark, which since then has climbed to 51 percent, as of a Rasmussen poll taken last week.
(That’s why Abercrombie is not attacking Aiona for being part of the Lingle administration. 51% of voters would see it as a reason to vote for Aiona. Borreca is just upset because this is the Dems last chance to take her numbers down before Lingle enters the 2012 Senate race. He expects Abercrombie to carry this water on behalf of the Party.)

KITV: Carlisle Says Rail Construction Could Start In March
That March 2011 groundbreaking estimate is based on whoever is elected the next governor accepting the environmental impact statement fairly soon after taking office Dec. 6.
If Democrat Neil Abercrombie wins the governor's job, rail supporters expect smooth sailing for the EIS. Transit advocates are concerned if Republican Duke Aiona is elected governor, he may put the EIS through a more extensive review, possibly delaying the project once again.
(And apparently Carlisle doesn’t know what the words “Superferry” or “Hokulia” mean. But hey, its an election year and KITV has to do everything it can to get Mufi voters behind the hippie.)
