Petition: Save Naval Air Museum Barbers Point

Special Election? After Dec 31 Caldwell Picks new Prosecutor

SA: … Businessman Tracy Yoshimura has filed a second petition in Circuit Court seeking Kaneshiro’s removal, after a judge dismissed the first try due to the city clerk’s objection to including online electronic signatures. This time around, some signatures were submitted on paper and others on a more secure electronic platform that’s widely used in business.

That should satisfy Honolulu Hale since electronic signatures are not specifically prohibited by law, and they’re now a go-to for many financial and government transactions.

For the sake of fairness to voters, the court should swiftly move forward on deciding this time-sensitive petition’s validity. If proceedings wrap up after Dec. 31 with a ruling to remove Kaneshiro, voters would be denied an opportunity to pick his replacement in a special election.

That’s because, according to the City Charter, if there’s a prosecuting attorney vacancy while there’s at least a year left in the term, a special election is held. If less than a year, the first deputy serves. If the first deputy is found to be unqualified, the mayor and City Council appoint someone….

No Progressive: Kai Kahele Sells Himself to Clinton Machine

CB: … Clinton operative Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress and former policy advisor to Hillary Clinton, co-hosted the Kahele fundraiser….

“I’m Brad Sherman from California’s best named city, Sherman Oaks, and I wanted to be one of the first mainland politicians to endorse you,” Rep Sherman said…

This was Kahele’s fourth visit to Washington since announcing his intentions to run for Gabbard’s seat….

So far, Kahele’s campaign has reported raising $502,000 through the first three quarters of 2019….

There’s still the possibility that others could declare as candidates, including former state Sen. Jill Tokuda, who has said she’s keeping her options open….

Poll Proves Public Just Mouthing the Phrases of Global Warming

CB: … The survey of 503 likely voters this summer found 50% think climate change is a “very serious” problem and another 32% consider it “somewhat serious.” Of those surveyed, 78% said they would be likely to change their habits, such as driving less or installing solar.

The Honolulu Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency, led by Josh Stanbro, shared the study with Civil Beat this week….

Half of those polled said they would be likely to change their car to a hybrid or electric vehicle whereas two-thirds said they’d be likely to install solar hot water or a photovoltaic system on their roof.

Only 42% said they would likely pay more taxes and fees that would be directly invested into solutions for climate change. And just 39% said they would ride a bike instead of driving sometimes.

More people were inclined to switch to the bus instead of driving. The poll found 54% would be either very likely or somewhat likely to do so…

These answers prove that the poll respondents are just mouthing the words. Real numbers from the real world:

OHA, protesters display hypocrisy at its finest

WHT: … The complaint filed against the Hawaii Police Department was a great call by Former Lieutenant Juergen Canda. Taxpayers will have absolutely no problem voiding out that bill. HPD hasn’t been doing their job anyway. Too much conflict of interest with the protesters. And if you haven’t noticed, OHA, its beneficiaries, along with all their “native rights” are above the law. We are a “fake state” according to the protesters. Yet, they continue to hold the rights of U.S. citizenship. And continue to work for state and federal jobs.

They are exercising their constitutional rights to worship and to protest, even though they don’t recognize the U.S. Constitution and its laws unless it benefits them and their beliefs….
