HART Claims Rail System ‘only’ 1 Year Behind Schedule

HNN: …Rail officials said they expect to begin service on the project's first 10-mile segment between Kapolei and Aloha Stadium by 2018, as they work on building the second half of the project between the stadium and Ala Moana Center….

The entire 20-mile project was supposed to be completed in 2020 but legal challenges and other delays have pushed the completion date a year later. The project also faces a billion dollars in cost overruns -- costs that could continue to soar, especially if construction runs into further delays.

Rail officials initially planned to begin the Kapolei to stadium route in 2017.

Report identifies worst traffic bottlenecks in Hawaii

HNN: Honolulu is deemed one of the worst traffic cities in the nation, but there are two specific stretches of freeway that are particularly bad, according to a newly released study.

The study, released Monday by the American Highway Users Alliance, found that one of the worst bottleneck spots was on the H-1 Freeway, between Ala Kapuna Street and the H-3 Freeway Kaneohe exit. The other congested area was located at the Halawa Interchange, the report said. In total, it’s estimated that these spots can cause a delay of more than 685,000 hours per year.

Maybe Pierre could invite them to come stay at his Kahala spread—or better yet, offer to move them to some of his mainland houses….

HNN: Mr. Taliah Nelson, 32, was charged Monday with second-degree murder. Police say Mr Nelson, who is transgender, fatally stabbed David Keczon, 57, while he slept Sunday night.

The two live in a transitional home in Wailuku run by Mental Health Kokua. The organization describes the home as a place where people with mental health needs can transition into the community….

Oddly enough, most media outlets referred to Mr Nelson as a ‘woman’.  Strange, but true.
