Mayor's Election Payback

At the request of John White (Pacific Resources), the public parking lot at Kuhio Ave. and Lewers St. has been closed to the public and will be limited to the exclusive use of the Ritz Carleton contractors. Presently, a 10 ft. high fence and gates are being erected around the property.

While the Ritz Carleton “monster” may need parking for the tradesmen, so do the merchants in Waikiki need parking for customers. Parking is not allowed on Kuhio Ave. or Lewers St. and the now closed lot was the only metered short-term parking in the area.

Could this special accommodation  be payback for John White’s support in the mayoral election?

HPD Accreditation Requirements?  $80 to Find Out

Dear Editor,   April 15, 2015  

Thanks for publishing the article about the HPD facing on-site accreditation commission as part of their accreditation to CALEA. This commission is allowing the public to send comments in to them for review about issues that the HPD are or are not following as part of CALEA. I went looking for the document that outlines what the requirements are for accreditation. There is a copy at the HPD's Professional Standards Office and can be reviewed when they are open. This is very inconvenient for the public in an age of everything being available on line. This document is not. If you want to view it you will need to purchase it for 80.00. 

When an agency asks for input to verify compliance of standards, it would be nice to know what the standards are so we can provide feedback be it positive or negative. Unless I am missing the entire idea of this ability to provide comments to the commission about HPD's compliance with CALEA, I am sure others myself included might have wanted to provide comments to this commission but without knowledge of the standards, cannot.

Kenoi Must Resign

Dear Editor,    April 4, 2015

If Billy Kenoi does not know the rules of his County, then why is he serving as its leader?

Obviously, he is ill-equipped to serve as the Mayor of beautiful Hawaii.

Who in their right mind would use a County business card to purchase a $1,200 surf board; a $1,900 bicycle, pay an $892 tab at a Honolulu hostess bar, and whatever else.

Where is common sense?

I truly feel sorry for his constituents.

Bruddah Billy, do the right thing! Stay away from the "Hootchie Girls", apologize to your spouse, then resign!
