Pono Choices Represents the 1.1%

Dear Editor,                  January 22, 2014

This past week I have read two articles pertaining to ‘Pono Choices’.  The first, in the Star-Advertiser a few days ago, was an article estimating that the percentage of Americans who were gay was 1.7%.  That's a very small "tail" that's "wagging the dog".  Of that 1.7%, there is a part that is female (lesbian); estimating one-third?  That leaves 1.1% of the American population that has any interest in homosexual anal sex.

Pono Choices teaches that the anus is a "genital organ".  Advocates for 1.1% of our population have arbitrarily added a "new genital organ" to those few biologically-documented in hundreds of years of biological and medical studies and texts.  As much as this is astonishing by itself, it is also factually wrong.  Yet it is being taught in Hawaii's public schools, approved by the DOE.

Pono Choices is teaching that it is all normal and "pono".  I haven't seen the word "homosexual" in any of their literature I have seen, and I conclude that their agenda includes eliminating that designation from our vocabulary in the same fashion they have defined the anus as a genital organ.  This is a homosexual agenda promoting itself to Hawaii's children on behalf of 1.1% of the population.  Something's very wrong here.   Where's the outrage?

Riding Around in the Wrong Circles

Dear Editor,      January 19, 2013

Additional funds generated by "transportation equity" by The Bus transportation agency would increase its capacity to function and to restore lost services.  Evidently, neither the City Council nor their staffs read Michael Formby's informative StarAdvertiser article on how the limited and tasteful use of advertising installed on the public buses would augment The Bus's operation by $6 million annually.  Instead, the Council has responded to the complaints of non-buspass riders who find the concept unattractive, and have undertaken a search for "red herrings" in the Mayor's budget because a responsible public servant proposes a practical solution that does not require a "Mother-may-I?" request from the City Council to proceed.  (It would appear that they do not read their annual audit reports on city agencies either.)

Instead, the free enterprise fleets of ugly pseudo-buses--with double decks and fins--half-empty and unscheduled, flood the streets of Waikiki covered with advertising and the Council and the Outdoor Circle do nothing.  That, of course, would make it a federal issue.

Therefore, President Obama should issue an executive order that stipulates revenues generated from "freedom of speech" advertisement on federally assisted public transportation systems should accrue as "transportation equity" to the carrier to further its continued operation and improvement.  (It is my understanding that there is no maintenance budget for HART because it might further disturb the uninformed public that funds to operate existing public services might be affected, as well.  Does the City Council not know this also?)

Lab Rats in Dangerous Social Experiment

Dear Rep Mc Dermott                                January 20, 2014

In a January 16 article a connection is asserted to exist between PONO CHOICES here in our state and PROUD CHOICES on the mainland.

Is it your understanding that "PROUD" in this context has anything to do with so called "gay pride"?

If so, that might explain the fever pitch of anxiety and desire to keep this far out of the public eye your entirely reasonable requests - - and those of Senator Slom - - have elicited from those accustomed to working in shadow.

In any event, thanks for working diligently in defense or our vulnerable public school children to prevent them from being used as lab rats in a dangerous social experiment.

Cordially,

Thomas E. Stuart,
