DJOU TO NAME IRENE ANZAI AS “ANGEL IN ADOPTION”

National ceremony tomorrow, local ceremony to be on October 15

Honolulu, HI — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) has selected local attorney Irene Anzai as a 2010 Angel in AdoptionTM  for her support of adopted children and their families. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), which organizes the Angels in Adoptionprogram, will honor Anzai and other Angels at an awards ceremony and gala event on October 6, 2010 in Washington, DC. Congressman Djou will present the actual award to Anzai at a local ceremony on October 15, more details forthcoming.

Congressman Djou said: “When it came time to select an ‘Angel’ in our community, Irene was an easy choice. Irene has helped facilitate adoptions across the state at no charge. Her dedication and efforts are borne of personal experience as an adoptive parent. Irene’s efforts have improved the lives of parents and children alike. I am pleased to honor Irene with this award. I’m confident that Irene will continue to do great work and will inspire others to exemplary civic service.”

The Angels in Adoption™ program is CCAI’s signature public awareness campaign and provides an opportunity for all members of the U.S. Congress to honor the good work of constituents who have enriched the lives of foster children and orphans in the United States and abroad.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent, safe, and loving homes through adoption.  CCAI’s goal is the elimination of the barriers that hinder these children from realizing their basic right of a family.
