Subject : MCP RE: Students using Army TA must request it before NOON HST Friday
Students using Army Tuition Assistance (TA) must register in GoArmyEd before NOON Hawaii Standard Time (HST) Friday, March 8 at which time it will be suspended.
The following message has been released by the Secretary of the Army regarding the suspension of Army Tuition Assistance:
Due to the current fiscal challenges, the Secretary of the Army has approved the suspension of Tuition Assistance (TA) effective 1700 EST Friday, 8 Mar 13.
The suspension will remain in effect until the fiscal situation matures.
Effective 1700 EST 8 Mar 13, Soldiers will no longer be permitted to submit new requests for Tuition Assistance through the GoArmyEd portal. Soldiers currently enrolled and participating in courses approved for tuition assistance are not affected and will be allowed to complete current course(s) enrollment.
Soldiers can continue to access their GI Bill benefits, if applicable (either the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) or the Post 9/11 GI Bill), or use another funding sources (i.e. grants, scholarships, or Army National Guard Soldiers using state Tuition Assistance). Soldiers should be encouraged to contact their local education centers for additional information. Updated information will also be posted to www.goarmyed.com
We urge Army students to select and register for classes for Term 3-2013 April 1 – June 11 immediately. Please contact Samantha Collins at goarmyed@hpu.edu 410-317-5147(EST), Alec Leehane at schofield@hpu.edu 808-687-7093 or Tonya Insani at tripler@hpu.edu 808-544-1493 for academic guidance. HPU has a team of experts to assist you with GI Bill benefits to include MGIB and Post 9/11 as well. They can be reached at va@hpu.edu
Students using TA from other military branches are also encouraged to request TA and register as soon as possible to ensure their educational goals are not interrupted. All of us at HPU will continue to support you in your educational endeavors as we maneuver through this situation.
