Official 2012-13 Public and Charter School Enrollment

Enrollment in DOE schools rises by some 1,500 students

News Release from Hawaii DoE

The state's official public school enrollment for the 2012-13 school year -- with all 254 Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) schools and 32 charter schools -- is
183,251, an increase of 1.1 percent compared to last year’s total of 181,213.

The DOE public schools enroll 173,658 (+1,554 from last year) students, about 95 percent of the total, while charter schools have 9,593 (+484), or 5 percent of the total.

The enrollment increase this school year can still be attributed to the large number of births in 2007, as well as the overall state of the economy.
