As Rail construction continues, Honolulu construction employment continues to drop, losing 1,300 jobs between June, 2011 and June, 2012. In the latest statistics from The Associated General Contractors of America, Honolulu ranks 272nd out of 337 metro areas.
Comparing the city and state numbers reveals the Rail-free sister isles see a 13% increase in construction employment of 900 jobs from 6,900 to 7,800. If the sister isles were a metro area, they would be tied for 11th in construction job growth in the USA.
