Hawaii Technology Academy Administration & Faculty Announcement for 2012-13
News Release from HTA
Waipahu, Hawaii– Hawaii Technology Academy, a public charter school, is proud to announce the return of Leigh Fitzgerald as Executive Director for the upcoming academic year. Prior to assuming the role in January of 2012, she held positions as director of upper school at Wildwood School in Los Angeles and principal at Maui Preparatory Academy. Ms. Fitzgerald holds an undergraduate degree from Brown University with a masters in administration, planning and social policy completed at Harvard University.
Joining Ms. Fitzgerald, along with an astounding 90% returning faculty, is Shannon Cleary as Associate Director. Ms. Cleary returns to Hawaii after five years on the mainland at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego, CA. Prior to LJCDS, Ms. Cleary was one of the founding faculty members of Maui Preparatory Academy. Working closely, as a liaison for K12 and HTA, the School could not be more pleased to announce Libra Forde as returning Program Manager. Mrs. Forde has been an extremely active member of the HTA community since 2009 serving as Local School Board member, Chartering Member of the HTA-PTSA, Glee/Bliss coach, communications liaison and Learning Coach trainer.
HTA, which serves students on all islands, is a model of “blended” instruction --face-to-face instruction within a centrally located Oahu Learning Center, combined with learning time spent individually or in small groups away from the center. Students who live too far from the Oahu Learning Center will attend HTA as virtual students, having face-to-face or video conference meetings with their teacher. All students and their parents/learning coaches will have daily access to their teacher via telephone, the online school, and e-mail. Students on Neighbor Islands meet with their island coordinators at localized sites on a weekly or monthly basis and have access to Oahu based teachers through the online portal.
HTA continues to pride itself in being an innovative, placed based and student centered educational choice for every child on every island. HTA is currently enrolling for the 2012 - 2013 school year, and inquiries on whether HTA is the right fit for your student are enthusiastically encouraged at808.676.5444 or www.k12.com/hta.
