LEGALIZED GAMBLING BILL GETS A HEARING!
On Monday, the House Tourism Committee will hear HB 2788 (Relating to Gaming) that grants a twenty-year license for one stand-alone casino in Waikiki (not in a hotel). This problematic bill also establishes the Hawaii Gaming Control Commission.
ACTION:
We are asking you to do four things immediately:
Pray that our state will remain one of two states WITHOUT any form of legalized gambling.
Take a moment to contact Representative Tom Brower (CHAIR) at 808-586-8520 (District 23 which includes Waikiki, Ala Moana and Kakaako) and Representative James Tokioka (VICE CHAIR) at 808-586-6270 (District 15 which includes Wailua Homestead, Hanamaulu, Lihue, Puhi, and Portion of Old Koloa Town). Call and register your OPPOSITION to legalized gambling in Hawaii. This is especially critical if you live in their districts.
Submit testimony in OPPOSITION and then show up at the hearing on February 13, 2012 @ 9:30 a.m. room #312. We have put links to resources below that will aid you in preparing your testimony. By clicking this link, you will be able to send an email directly from VoterVoice.
Forward this alert to your friends and family and encourage them to do the same.
