News Release from Hawaii Judiciary
Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald today appointed Mimi DesJardins to fill a judicial vacancy in the District Court of the Second Circuit.
DesJardins has served as a part-time judge of the District Court of the Second Circuit since 2006. A former Deputy Corporation Counsel, Deputy Public Defender and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney on Maui, she is currently a solo practitioner in private practice, specializing in family law and criminal defense. DesJardins received her law degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1989.
If confirmed by the State Senate, DesJardins will serve in office for six years. Because the Chief Justice has the discretion to assign judges to the district or district family court calendar, DesJardins may serve in the District or District Family court.
The chief justice appoints district court judges from a list of not less than six nominees submitted by the Judicial Selection Commission.
