News Release from www.ConforHawaii.com
“What’s All the Fuss About International Building Codes?” will be the topic of the August meeting of the Conservative Forum for Hawaii. The public is invited to the free forum on Sunday, 28 August, 2:00pm at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort’s Polynesian Room, Banyan Dr, Hilo.
The Hawaii County Council is on the verge of adopting International Building and Energy Codes, changes which will impact the cost of housing on the Big Island. Extensive community concerns have been raised about how this has come to be, that the Council did not consider the full impact of what these laws would do, and even that they didn’t really care about possible impacts. As a result of these concerns, the council has postponed final decision for another month to allow further public feedback.
Come and hear panel members present the recent historical origins of this situation, how our government got in to this mess, the implications for everyone, and the details about what changes might make more sense.
Panelists include Bill 270 Stakeholder’s Group members Bob Ernst and Tim Rees, and architect Neil Erikson from the County Building Department.
The Conservative Forum for Hawaii (www.conforhawaii.com) is non-partisan, meets monthly, and all are invited to the free forums.
