Stanley Chang Running for CD1? Files to Form Campaign Committee
by Andrew Walden
Dan Inouye was barely in the grave—buried only three days-- on December 26, 2012 when Honolulu Councilmember Stanley Chang signed Federal Election Commission documents creating the “Stanley Chang for Congress” campaign committee.
December 26 was the day that Governor Neil Abercrombie announced his appointment of Lt Gov. Brian Schatz to fill Inouye's seat.
The documents, mailed December 31 and received by the FEC January 8, indicate Chang intends to run for Colleen Hanabusa’s CD1 seat as a Democrat. Chang supported Hanabusa in the 2010 and 2012 Congressional races.
Chang is currently a Honolulu Councilmember representing East Oahu.
